However completely stopping carb intake will have an adverse effect, such as sever hunger cravings, on the body and hence this needs to be controlled gradually. Foods that are made of refined sugar and white flour should be strictly avoided. It is best to take professional advice on a healthy and balanced diet as all nutrients play an important factor in the smooth functioning of the body.</p>
<p>Vegetables and fruits are a must in daily diet. Fish, which is a good source of protein can be consumed 2-3 times a week. Non-fat dairy products like skimmed milk, curds should be included. Water is a good source to remove toxins from the body. Replace aerated drinks with water. Junk food like chips, pizza, cakes, cookies, pastries etc should be avoided completely. Daily dose of physical exercise can also control weight. Walking, climbing stairs etc are a good way for weight control.</p>

With less insulin levels whatever amount of fat consumed will be metabolized and not stored in the body. The level of blood sugar in the body is inversely proportionate to the insulin levels. As blood sugar decreases, efficiency of insulin increases, and that will decrease the insulin levels in the body.</p>
<p>High levels of insulin can lead to increased blood pressure. This can result in heart attack or a stroke. A low carb diet provides just the right amount of carbs needed by the body as a high carb diet will increase the fats and insulin leading to a host of other diseases. However a low carb diet needs to be maintained as once there is a good amount of weight loss; people tend to go back to regular eating habits which may not be entirely healthy. It is important to also pay attention to the other nutrient intake in the diet and not concentrate only on a low carb diet. A healthy body leads to a healthy mind.</p>

<p>Vegetables such as green leafy veggies lettuce, spinach, broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, green beans. Fruits like apples and berries. Carrots that are a good source of Vitamin A, C and K are also advised.</p>
<p>Whole grains such as wheat, rice, corn, and oats have high nutritional value. Breads and cereals like barley and bran.<br />
Skimmed milk, also known as low fat milk, curds, yogurt and non fatty cottage cheese.</p>
<p>Foods like fish, poultry products, meats, nuts are good source of protein.</p>
<p>An ideal diet should include at least one type of food from each of the above 4 food groups. Main nutrients like carbohydrates, fats, minerals, vitamins and proteins are derived from a healthy and balanced diet.</p>
<p>Just as there are guidelines to balanced diet there are certain don’ts that we must adhere to. Excess intake of fat can lead to development of diabetes. Fats are necessary for the body but in controlled quantities. Also salt intake should be controlled. This diet also suggests a lesser intake of sugar. Hence the alcohol consumption should be monitored as alcohol increases the sugar level in the blood.</p>
<p>It is best to take help from a professional dietitian to guide on day to day consumption of food in order to curb or control diabetes.</p>

<p>It  is diagnosed not because of excessive sugar intake but once diagnosed  sugar is strictly prohibited. The person suffering needs to plan its  schedule to ensure a healthy &amp; preventive routine. This disease  demand a strict schedule of what to eat, how much to eat &amp; when to  eat.</p>
<p>Regular  walks are must for a diabetic, so the day should start with at least  one hour of walk. Walking should comprise at least 30 minutes of brisk  walking. Stress yoga must be avoided by diabetic. Breakfast must be  taken on time as fasting is injurious to the diabetic. After the dinner  there is a huge gap till breakfast. Breakfast needs to be rich in fiber  &amp; low calorie. Meal intake can be six in a day but quantity needs to  be watched carefully. Small frequent meals are most preferred meal for a  diabetic. Food intake needs to be rich in protein &amp; low in  carbohydrate. The day must progress with healthy &amp; timely food to  keep the energy level intact in body.</p>
<p>Diabetic  needs to have regular follow up with doctor.  Eyes &amp; kidney needs  an extra attention, so a semiannual check up or as prescribed by the  doctor, regular check up   is recommended.
