Type II Diabtes/Diabetes Mellitus Type II Symptoms
Two-thirds of people with Type 2 Diabetes doesn’t show any symptoms.If present the common symptoms include:
- Urine production is increased in order to remove the excess glucose in urine.
- Excessive thirst
- Tiredness since glucose is not converted into energy
- Weight loss
- Excessive appetite
- feeling sick
- blurred vision
- infections such as thrush or irritation of the genitals
Diagnostic methods for Type II diabetes
- Fasting blood glucose level [diabetes is diagnosed if higher than 126 mg/dL on two occasions]
- Random or non-fasting blood glucose level [diabetes is diagnosed if higher than 200 mg/dL and accompanied by the common symptoms of increased thirst, urination, and fatigue] (This test should be confirmed with a fasting blood glucose test).
- Oral glucose tolerance test [diabetes is diagnosed if glucose level is higher than 200 mg/dL after 2 hours].
